Family Camp – The Ideal Family Vacation
Camp Fitch is well known for its superior summer camp for kids, but one week in August every year is devoted entirely to families. Family Camp is open to any family looking for a vacation. Families love the comfortable camp atmosphere that has something for everyone and it is the perfect setting for parents to spend quality time with their children.
Nothing beats the great outdoors! There are many activities that families are able to enjoy on their own such as nature hikes, watching the sunrise or sunset, fishing on Lake MVIMA or spending time around a campfire.
Other activities are supervised by qualified Camp Staff and include numerous outdoor and camp-related adventures. Enjoy climbing the rock wall, shooting a bow and arrow or just skipping stones along our Lake Erie shoreline. Parents and their children can spend their time together recreating, enjoying family-style meals, relaxing and growing closer as family.
Program Options: Parents and their children can fill their days enjoying a wide variety of camp activities together during their weekend at Camp Fitch. Some of the activities we offer are boating on our inland pond in the fall and late spring, fishing, rock climbing on our 20-foot indoor climbing center or 40-foot outdoor tower and horseback riding.
We also have available our nature center, archery, air rifle and 22mm rifle ranges and activities such as indoor hockey, crafts and campfires. Seasonally we offer hayrides to a local pumpkin patch or to the Peggy Gray Candy Store. In the winter, we offer cross-country skiing and tubing. For hikers, explore and enjoy the beautiful scenic woodland trails and Lake Erie shoreline. Our professional staff oversees all camp programming and can help to meet your group’s special needs.
Camp Fitch offers a large aquatic program. These water activities are a fun part of Camp Fitch. Certified Lifeguards monitor all water areas. The water activities include: Swimming in the Pool, jumping off the rope swing at Lake MVIMA, boating at Lake MVIMA – Canoes, Rowboats, Funyaks, Funbug (boating with your legs!) paddle boats, swimming, water skiing, tubing, sailing and Sea Kayaking all in Lake Erie.
Facilities: Camp Fitch offers a variety of housing options for your stay at camp whether it is in the fall, winter, or spring season. Seven modern dormitory lodges serve as first-rate camping accommodations for our fall/winter/spring groups. The lodges vary in size and house from 34 to 60 people, most also include a group meeting room. The total capacity with these lodges is 300 people. Our cabents (permanent floor and roof with canvas sides) offer a unique camping option during the late spring and early fall. Within easy walking distance to each cabent are buildings that contain separate male and female bathrooms. Each modern bathroom contains tiled floors, private showers and numerous sinks and toilets.
