Lake Erie Return to the top

How many summer camps offer one mile of beautiful sand beach along a picturesque freshwater lake? Well, Camp Fitch sure does. We are blessed with a natural sandy beach that allows our campers to enjoy the wonders of the lake in all seasons. From swimming, sailing and water skiing in the summer, to the quiet frozen wonderland of January, Lake Erie provides an ideal location for every beach activity imaginable. Lake Erie abounds with many species of both fish and bird life. Campers may see steelhead trout that have migrated from up stream, or catch a glimpse of a great blue heron in the early morning as he scouts for his breakfast. One can enjoy the birds that are here for just a short time, spring and fall, on their yearly migrations. A real treat is to see one of the bald eagles that live along Lake Erie cruising along the shoreline. Rich in history and wildlife, Lake Erie is a treasure to share with all who come to visit Camp Fitch.

Lake MVIMA Return to the top

Our man-made inland lake, Lake MVIMA, (pronounced "miveema"), is our own private inland lake. This outstanding resource is the perfect site for boating activities and provides an opportunity for instruction in canoeing, kayaking and fishing. In addition to these activities, fun bugs and paddleboats are also very popular.

Outdoor Pool Return to the top

Two lakes were just not enough. We went one step further and added a 25-meter swimming pool and a separated diving area provide outstanding opportunities for swimming and diving enthusiasts. Swim instruction along with pool games such as volleyball and basketball are part of the Camp Fitch pool experience.

Cabents Return to the top

What offers comfort and convenience of a cabin and the ‘roughing it’ feeling of a tent? A ‘cabent’ of course. Cabents are where all of our counselors and campers call home during their eight weeks of summer camp. Each cabent has a permanent floor & roof along with canvas sides that lace at each corner of the cabent to adjust to any type of inclement weather.

Dining Facilities Return to the top

One thing we’ve learned after all these years – campers love to eat. Camp Fitch is fortunate to have the magnificent Skeggs Dining Hall with a panoramic view of Lake Erie. Our state-of-the-art commercial kitchen can serve up to 800 individuals in two separate dining rooms. Adjoining meeting rooms, covered porches and gardens make this a camp dining experience equaled by none.
